Harvest Gold Design Challenge

 
Overview : Harvest Gold is a well known Bread  company in India owned by an alumnus of IIT Delhi . The Bread is distributed to each and every corner of the city by different people working daily transporting breads. The breads are packed in a plastic crate which is around 10-12 kg and each person carries such 3-4 crates on his shoulder. While unloading, the person just freely removes the load which on impact with ground causes serious cracks after several falls.
 
PROJECT PROPOSAL:
 
Design Statement:  The Company wishes to organize a design competition among the students of IIT to develop a creative technology Innovation/ devise a method so that the crate can be carried at lower height levels thus reducing the impact level, while not compromising on the quantities carried and also increase the trays’ resistance to cracking on falling to the ground. A presentation/video with reference to the design statement will be shown to the participants.
 
It is to be noted that the original crate MUST remain the same.
 

 

What are the Stages??

Stage 1

  •  Complete documentation of the work done
  •  Calculations and/or other considerations taken
  •  Engineering design
  •  Materials chosen/ cost analysis

Stage 2

  • Fabrication of the Design and Loading Tests

Prizes

Stage 1

  • Cash Prize of 20,000/Team and Certificates to 3 Teams
  • Entry to Stage 2 for Fabrication and Modelling (funded by Harvest Gold)

Stage 2

  • Top Team will get a cash Prize of 1,00,000

 

How To enter Into this Contest??
  • Open for all IIT Delhi Students (UG/PG)
  • A maximum four students can work together to propose an idea/innovative technological model
